The book “Khojaly 30 years: the history of a genocide“ and the portal ”Khojaly today” are presented

Presentation of the book “Khojaly 30 years: the history of a genocide”, published in the Azerbaijani, Russian, English and Spanish languages, and the portal “Khojaly today” (www.khojalytoday.com), developed in four languages, in connection with the 30th anniversary of the tragedy within the actions aiming to convey the genocide committed in 1992 by Armenia against civilians in Khojaly, took place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

 

The book “Khojaly 30 years: the history of a genocide“ and the portal ”Khojaly today” were developed in the framework of the international enlightenment campaign “Justice for Khojaly” with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

The abovementioned publication conveys information about the district Khojaly, its geography, nature and historical conditions, and lifestyle before the occupation, Armenian armed forces’ razing the city of Khojaly to the ground in the cold winter of 1992, merciless killing of 613 civilians, subjecting them to tortures, as well as liberation of our lands under Armenian occupation in the 44 -day Patriotic War. The book also contains information recorded by foreign journalists at the time of the genocide and published in a number of leading media.

 

Testimonies about the Khojaly genocide, photos shot by local and foreign photographers reflecting the savagery committed by Armenians in Khojaly are also given in the publication.

 

On the portal “Khojaly today”, along with the information contained in the book “Khojaly 30 years: the history of a genocide“, are presented also official documents related to the tragedy, videos and documentaries, books, research materials written by local and international authors about the Khojaly genocide, as well as conventions and other legal documents concerning the prevention of and punishing for crimes of genocide.  

 

The resource base “Khojaly today” has been developed in the Azerbaijani, Russian, English and Spanish languages. Judgements made by a number of countries on the Khojaly genocide, information about the monuments erected to the victims of the tragedy in Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mexico, Netherlands and Turkey are given in the section “International support” of the portal.

 

The section “Share your story” allows to share the disaster experienced by our fellow citizens-internally displaced people - from Khojaly and, in general, from the occupied territories. From this point of view, the resource base plays a role of a platform to convey their stories to the world society.
