Presentation of the album dedicated to creativity of Rafig Babayev, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, held at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Ceremony of presentation was held April 11 at Heydar Aliyev Foundation of music album dedicated to creativity of People’s Artist, composer, pianist Rafig Babayev, who has special place in the history of music culture of Azerbaijan.

This album that has been made by Heydar Aliyev Foundation is also dedicated to the memory of people died as a result of the Armenian aggression and terror in the person of Rafig Babayev who died in the terrorist act committed in Baku Metro on March 19, 1994 by the intelligence services of Armenia. 

The working group created for performance of the project included members of the composer’s family and his close colleagues. The album prepared in base of materials collected from archives of CIS countries and Azerbaijan consists of book published in high polygraphic level and talking of life and actions of Rafig Babayev, 2 DVDs containing unique video records and 8 CDs of his works. Discs were recorded in the studio of SONY Firm in Austria.  

The ceremony of presentation attended by figures of culture and art and officials of Azerbaijan was opened with the film devoted to Rafig Babayev.

President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the ceremony.

Farziyya Babayeva, daughter of Rafig Babayev, expressed deep gratitude to President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva for the noble initiative.

Noting the great importance of services of Mehriban Aliyeva in field of development of the Azeri culture film director, People’s Artist Ogtay Mirgasymov valued the new album as the next contribution to the culture by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. He talked of the role of the TV mugham contests in protection of the national music, assessing it as a sacred mission.

Ogtay Mirgasymov shared his memories about Rafig Babayev.

Rector of Azerbaijan National Conservatory, People’s Artist Siyavush Kerimi said the presentation was much appreciated by all the music lovers of Azerbaijan, mentioned national leader Heydar Aliyev had always highly valued the creativity of Rafig Babayev. He said talking of the terrorist act committed in March 1994 in Baku Metro the great leader was emphasizing loss of Rafig Babayev.

The ceremony of presentation ended with performance of masters of art.
