“Azerbaijan through a Foreign Lens” photo exhibition was held at the Museum of Modern Art, July 12, 2011, with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the United Nations Development Program. President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, Foundation’s Vice President Leyla Aliyeva and UN Resident-Coordinator in Azerbaijan Fikret Akchura attended the opening ceremony.
More than 90 colour and white-and-black photos taken by foreign diplomats and businessmen working in Azerbaijan were demonstrated at the exhibition. 600 photos by citizens of 30 countries were presented, following the announcement of the UNDP based in Azerbaijan.
Over 90 colour and white-and-black photos were displayed at the exhibition. Comprised of landscapes, scenes reflecting common peoples’ daily lives and portraits, the photos showed Azerbaijan’s colourful and old culture, rich architectural traditions and recent years’ social and economic development.
An interesting trait of the exhibition was that only amateur photos taken from foreign nationals’ private collections were displayed here.
