During August 30-31, 2021, Vagif’s Poetry Days were held by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
On August 30, official opening of the Vagif’s Poetry Days took place.
Exhibitions “Karabakh is a pearl of the Azerbaijani culture”, “Again in the native land. Karabakh’s pearls of art” and “Memory. Photographic History” took place within the Vagif’s Poetry Days held in Shusha, August 30.
Examples of painting and sculpture being showcased at the exhibition “Karabakh is a pearl of the Azerbaijani culture”, arranged at the Shusha Art Gallery, takes visitors to joyful and grievous, real and fantastic, open and hidden, colourful and monochrome world. The main origin of inspiration in the artworks being exhibited here is Karabakh.
Artworks of Boyukagha Mirzazadeh, Toghrul Narimanbeyov, Maral Rahmanzadeh, Nadir Abdurrahmanov, Mikayil Abdullayev, Ujal Hagverdiyev, Museyib Amirov and other renowned artists of Azerbaijan are showcased here. Landscapes of Karabakh, its monuments, carpets, horses, mugham and subjects related to the victory in the Karabakh War have been widely presented at the exhibition. At the exhibition, where over sixty artworks are exhibited, such examples of artworks as “Majlisi-uns” by People’s Artist Altay Hajiyev, “Yukhary Dashalty” by People’s Artist Sattar Bahlulzadeh, “Richness of Karabakh” by Honoured Artist Inna Kostina, “Kharybulbul” by Leyla Aliyeva, as well as sculptures “Karabakh Horse” by Faig Hajiyev, “The Beauty of Karabakh” by Orkhan Nabizadeh and other artworks are demonstrated at the exhibition.
High pile and low pile carpets, carpet products, national embroidery and garment sets, as well as artistic metal examples presented by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum are showcased at the Carpet Gallery in Shusha. Majority of the exhibits that are again showcased in their native land were brought to Baku from the Shusha branch of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum during the First Karabakh War. One can see samples of Karabakh carpets related to various districts that are highly valued for centuries and are listed among rare pearls of foreign museums and personal collections. The collection of carpets includes also carpets with stamp pattern reflecting the lifestyle of the population engaged in cattle breeding here, as well as carpets with “Nabatı’ pattern and carpets with plot, embodying the town culture, weaved in professional shops, such as “Varni”, “Zili”, “Chelebi”, “Lampa”, “Malybeyli”, “Gasymushaghy”, “Ayan Mejlisi” etc. The carpet-rug set “Lampa” is among exhibits arousing special interest by its size, perfect compositional structure and colours.
The exhibition “Memory. Photographic history” embodies Azerbaijan’s old history, rich culture, beautiful nature, and traditions. Armenia has committed an act of vandalism against our cultural heritage, historical and architectural monuments on the territories they had once kept under occupation. Here are also shown photos related to the savagery and destructions committed by Armenians in the districts and cities liberated from occupation. There are also photos at the exhibition reflecting the crimes committed by Armenia against civilians during the Patriotic War.
On August 31st , a symposium was held within the framework of the Vagif’s Poetry Days, speeches of People’s poets, poets of middle and young generation, performances of mugham singers were heard, and a poetic composition called “From Nizami to Vagif” was presented.
