The Heydar Aliyev Foundation participated in the creation of new halls in the Louvre Museum of Paris dedicated to Islamic art.

On September 18, 2012, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and President of the Republic of France Francois Holland attended the inauguration of the Islamic Art section in the museum.

The Islamic Art section in the museum represents examples of architecture, painting and other cultural creativity of Islamic art. This section is comprised of examples of creativity related to various Muslim countries’ cultures. Here are displayed over 5 thousand whole art examples, including various items made of glass, ceramic and metal, as well as carpets, garments and miniatures, and over a thousand incomplete and damaged works of creativity. Art works related to states existing in various periods of Islamic history are also preserved in this section of the museum.

Along with France, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Oman and Morocco have played important part in the opening of new halls.
