An exhibition and a concert devoted to the 870th anniversary of Azerbaijan’ genius of poet Nizami Ganjavi was organized in Paris, with organizational support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France, November 2013.
On November 12, an exhibition devoted to the poet’s life and creativity was organized at the Museum of Letters and Manuscripts in Paris.
Archaeological finds related to the Nizami era – coins, samples of jewellery, household items of the Shirvanshahs and Atabeys era, reproductions of miniatures drawn by Azerbaijani artists in the Middle Ages, pottery with reflection of miniatures, carpets and batiks made on the basis of characters from the poems included in “Khamsa”, photos made late in the 19th – early in the 20th centuries in Ganja, a mock-up of the thinker-poet’s mausoleum in Ganja, as well as photos of monuments erected to the poet in Baku, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Rome, Cheboksary and Beijing were displayed at the exhibition. The guests were distributed books and brochures talking of the life and creativity of Nizami Ganjavi published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
On November 13, a concert program comprised of romances and songs composed by Azerbaijani composers to Nizami Ganjavi’s poems were presented to the guests at the Culture Centre of Azerbaijan in Paris.
