Azerbaijani pavilion at the 56th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia has been presented with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union. On May 6, inauguration of the exhibitions “Beyond the Line” and “Vita Vitale” took place in the Lezze Palace related to the 14th century in Campo Santo Stefano - one of the busy places of the city. Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyev attended the ceremony.

The exhibition “Beyond the Line” sheds light on the spirit of the artists who had remained in the shadow of the 20thcentury Soviet regime, and their love for freedom. Exhibitions of artists whohad opposed the communist ideology in the Soviet regime and wished to express their “revolutionary” position had never been organized; they could not leave the country. The exhibition “Beyond the Line” demonstrates the spirits of the artists that had so far remained in the dark, and their world of art.

Works by seven artists - Ashraf Murad, Javad Mirjavadov, Tofik Javadov, Rasim Babayev, Fazil Najafov, Hussein Hagverdy, and Shamil Najafzadeh - are displayed at the exhibition “Beyond the Line”.

The exhibition “Vita Vitale” brings together artists from around the world, reflecting concern for the destiny of the planet. The exposition includes works by artists from Azerbaijan, USA, Austria, Great Britain, Canada, France, Italy, Netherlands, Pakistan, Switzerland and Uzbekistan. Works by Edward Burtynsky, Mircea Cantor, Loris Cecchini, Tony Cragg, Laura Ford, Leyla Aliyeva, Aida Mahmoudova, Andy Warhol other famous artists are exhibited at “Vita Vitale”. The exhibition inspires us to increasing our role in protection of the environment and, at the same time, offers creative ideas and tools to safeguard the future of the world.

The exhibitions will continue until November 22.
