An exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity” at UNESCO

On 13 May 2015, within the annually celebrated European Museums Night, an exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity” was arranged at UNESCO headquarters, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Permanent Representative Office of Azerbaijan under UNESCO.

 

At the exposition “Azerbaijan: from Tradition to Modernity”, archaeological finds discovered on the country’s territory, coins used in ancient times and Middle Ages in Azerbaijan, samples of jewellery, copper wares, national music instruments, garments, embroidery and carpet products were displayed. 

 

Small bronze statues made by our young talents, along with well-known sculptors of our country, on 20 types of sports were demonstratedat the exposition devoted to the Baku-2015 First European Games.

 

At the exposition “Contemporary Art of Azerbaijan”, paintings by Toghrul Narimanbeyov, Altay Sadykhzadeh, Ashraf Murad, Leyla Aliyeva, Museyib Amirov, Mammad Karim Gouliyev, Ahad Mammadov, Darvin Valibeyov, Sabir Chopuroghlu, Elyar Alimirzayev, Niyaz Najafov, Orkhan Huseynov, Faig Ahmad and others were displayed. 

 

Another corner at the exhibition was devoted to ancient Azerbaijani horseback game Chovken.

 

Attendees of the event were presented publications of Azerbaijan’s poet of genius Nizami Ganjavi printed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the English and French languages.

 

At the opening of the exhibition, a concert programme called “New generation of the Azerbaijani jazz” was presented. Participant of international jazz festivals, virtuosic musician Shahin Novrasli performed at the concert.  He was accompanied by Ari Hofeing in percussion instruments, Natan Pek in double-bass, Arslan Novrasli in tar, and Nurlan Novrasli in kamancha.

 

The exhibition continued until May 20.
