Nasimi Festival comes to the end

On September 30, ceremonies of closing of the Nasimi-Poetry, Art and Morality Festival and rewarding of the winners of the literary contest of the Culture Ministry dedicated to the memory of Nasimi within the framework of the literary project “Word” took place.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva and President of the Baku Media Centre Arzu Aliyeva attended the ceremonies.

Presentation of a literary and musical show called “Merhaba” took place in the Festival’s closing ceremony. Miraculous music, show’s plastic solution and, of course, skilful voicing of Nasimi’s valuable words by the actors once more personified the poet’s endless poetic world. Hemistiches “Mərhaba, xoş gəldin, ey ruhi-rəvanım, mərhaba”, “Mənəm ol tilsimi-pünhan ki, bu gün cahanə gəldim” voiced from the thinker-poet’s ghazals made everybody be influenced by Nasimi’s poems, drawing into thoughts about human, life and quest for truth.

Then, the winners of the literary contest of the Culture Ministry dedicated to the memory of Nasimi within the framework of the literary project “Word” – Tahira Mammadova, Mehman Rasulov, Rustam Tofig, as well as young participants Aysel Babayeva and Mehriban Sattarova - were rewarded.

Leyla Aliyeva presented the awards.

The contest has been held in order to discover young and talented poets, and introduce them to the public. Up to 90 young poets presented their works they wrote driving inspiration from the genius of Nasimi. 17 out of them were chosen for the finals by a decision of the jury.
