Mehriban Aliyeva met with Director General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura

Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijani Culture Friends Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, met with UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura on September 16 in Paris.

UNESCO Director General welcomed Mrs Aliyeva with respect, expressed pity for not being able to take part in the jubilee ceremony on the 100th anniversary of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev because of partaking in the action held in New York on the 60th anniversary of UN. Mr Matsuura noted according to the information given to him, the jubilee actions were held in high level. Remembering with pleasure his last visit to Azerbaijan, director general expressed deep gratitude to Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva for the hospitality shown to him and delegation. Saying that Baku meetings left very nice feelings in him, Koichiro Matsuura emphasized the ties between UNESCO and Azerbaijan are in high level.

Thanking the director general for sincere and warm words, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva expressed her delight of celebrating the jubilee of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev in Paris. Expressing satisfaction from the development of cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijan, she underlined the mutual links would further be rapidly develop.

In the sincere meeting exchange of views was held on several other issues.
