Traditional festivity for children

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation organizes each year New Year festivities for children being brought up at children homes and boarding schools, orphans and those deprived of parental care, and children especially distinguished in education.

On December 30, President of the Foundation, First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and her grandsons, Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva attended the festivity organized at Buta Palace.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the festive event:

- Dear children, parents and teachers!

I am very happy to be with you on this Holiday. I am happy to see you in this New Year festivity organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. I am very happy to see children being in such a cheerful mood, rejoicing, dancing and singing.

The year, which has ended, will have its special place in the history of our country. Dear children, you all apparently know that this year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of independence of Azerbaijan. Our country has made great achievements in this year. Our country has been developing in all spheres, new programs are implemented, our cities and towns become more beautiful, new roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and sport centres are constructed. We all see this development.  We all are proud to live in such a mighty and beautiful country – Azerbaijan.

Certainly, all this works aim at turning Azerbaijan into a powerful, independent and mighty country. And the primary objective is to ensure that in future you live in such a country, as that is you who will continue the development of the country. Therefore, first of all today you need to receive a proper education, as the future depends only on education, knowledge and intellect. At this holiday evening, first of all I would like to wish you sound health. I wish you to study well and become educated and erudite persons. I wish you tomorrow to be the builders of independent Azerbaijan. Certainly, we are all happy to see today’s achievements. We are all proud to live in such a nice country.

The year we are seeing off will remain in memories with great victories. Today, with the last song we again remembered our victory in the “Eurovision-2011” contest.  Certainly you all remember how happy we were! Our two young singers gained this victory for Azerbaijan. All Europe voted for us. This is a great victory of Azerbaijan. Next year the Eurovision song contest will be held in our country, and I am confident it will turn into a nice festivity.

Moreover, other achievements were made in the public and political life of the country too. Certainly, all these are, first of all, steps taken towards the bright future of our youths, our children.

Dear children, dear parents, respected teachers, therefore, I once more sincerely congratulate you  on the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year. I wish you in the New Year, first of all, sound health, happiness and new successes! Thank you very much!
