Participants of the 1st International Ashyg Festival give a concert in Tovuz

Participants of the 1st International Ashyg Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Azerbaijan Ashygs Union due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation visited Tovuz district, October 25.

They first viewed at the Heydar Aliyev Museum the exhibits reflecting life and actions of the national leader.

The visitors were welcomed by the band of young ashygs Misri, and head of the district executive power Tofig Zeynalov, who highly valued realization of the event in Tovuz, the ancient land of saz and poetry, informed of the district’s socioeconomic development.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Ashygs Union, People’s Poet Zelimkhan Yagub spoke of unity of Turkic world, the great art of ashyg, emphasized huge support by Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, to the Festival. The Chairman talked about classic and modern ashygs of Tovuz, mentioning the great attention paid to this art by great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.

Then, a concert was given by ashygs from Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Nakhchyvan and Tovuz.
