International conference `Azerbaijan: Past and Present in Dialogue of Civilizations` continued

International conference `Azerbaijan: Past and Present in Dialogue of Civilizations` was continued at `Yacht-Club` on April 20.


In the second day of the conference 3 sittings were held in `Latin dialogue`, `Religion, secularism and modernity` and `Post modernity and critical mind` sections. Lectures were presented by deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov on the theme `Azerbaijan in modern world: realities and strategic priorities`, Yean Baudrillard - `Those beyond the dialogue`, Francois L`yvonnet - `News in Mediterranean Sea region`, correspondent member of ANSA Vasim Mammadaliyev - `Between Islam and secularism: religion policy of Turkey in Turkish-language republics of Central Asia and Caucasus`, Sergio Paolo Rouanet - `Reason and mind between cultures`, chairman of State Committee for Work with Religious Institutions Rafig Aliyev - `Idea of Azerbaijanism, idea of unitary secular state system`, other speeches delivered as well. Then views were exchanged upon the lectures, talks and discussions held on scientific-religious, cultural-political topics.


Relationship between religion and state, current legislative basis, traditions, relations between religions, work experience with religious communities and institutions, tolerance in Azerbaijan, approaches of our scholars and religious figures, state officials upon relations between cultures in time of globalization caused big interest of reps of different countries.


The conference participants noted they were deeply impressed by the meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. They expressed pleasure of familiarization with historical and cultural monuments of Baku, highly valued the state care about protection of the mugham, base of our ancient music, as well activities of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this field, projects implemented by the Foundation in education and healthcare, expansion of international cooperation, philanthropic activity of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva.


The conference will be closed on April 21.
