91st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev and 10th jubilee of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation are marked in Saint Petersburg

On May 3, a ceremony took place to mark the 91st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev and 10th jubilee of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the Small Hall of the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Society.

 

The concert was organized by the Russian Representative Office of the World Azerbaijanis Cultural Centre jointly with the General Consulate of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg.

 

The event was attended by representatives of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Regional administrations, heads of the consulate corps in Saint Petersburg, directors of museums and libraries, rectors, teachers and students of leading higher schools, as well as representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in the northern capital of Russia.

 

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu talked about the policy of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and noted that, due to him, the country took the path of stable and dynamic development. P.Bulbuloghlu talked also about the works done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in education, culture and public health, and numerous events held abroad.

 

Deputy Chairperson of the Saint Petersburg Government’s Foreign Relations Committee Sergey Markov emphasized the role of Heydar Aliyev in the development of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, and talked of the significance of the works done by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

First Vice-president of the World Azerbaijanis Cultural Centre Rasim Mammadov, deputy of the Milli Majlis, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Council of Elders Fattah Heydarov, Russian Federation’s Internal Service Lieutenant-General Alexander Volokh, and deputy of the Milli Majlis Jala Aliyeva delivered a speech.

 

In a concert following the speeches, works by F.Amirov, G.Garayev, Niyazi, V.Mustafazadeh, S.Rakhmaninov and E.Curtis were performed by the Chamber Orchestra of the Saint Petersburg University.

 

Artistic director and chief conductor of the concert was Honoured Artist of Russia   Andrei Alekseev, and conductor People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Teymour Goychayev.

 

A photo-exhibition was organized and a documentary shown about the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev.
