Mehriban Aliyeva is appointed chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Baku in 2017

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order to establish an Organizing Committee for holding the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 in the city of Baku. By the order of the President, Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, member of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, was appointed chairperson of the Organizing Committee.

 

Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on establishing an Organizing Committee for holding the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 in the city of Baku. 

A decision taken on 24 July 2013 at the 8^th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation in connection with holding the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku has been accepted in Azerbaijan with satisfaction. This significant event once more proves that the Republic of Azerbaijan is taking its worthy place among the leading sports countries.

With its unique position in the Islamic world, Azerbaijan’s potential and large-scale state-of-the-art infrastructure projects it has implemented will create favourable grounds to hold these games in the environment of sound competition and friendship.

Holding such respected competitions as Islamic Solidarity Games after the first European Games, that were successfully completed, will increase Azerbaijan’s popularity in sports and strengthen its international image, along with being an obvious example of its loyalty to the principles of tolerance and multiculturalism.

Being guided by Para 32, Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with a view to ensuring worthily holding of the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 in Baku city, I resolve:

1. To establish an Organizing Committee, with the following membership, to hold the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games in May 2017 in the city of Baku:

2. The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku City Executive Authority to prepare, together with the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, special actions plan on holding the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games, and to submit.

3. The Organizing Committee to solve required issues in connection with holding of the 4^th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 in the city of Baku.

4. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan to solve issues arising from this Order.
