11th Gabala International Music Festival comes to the end

The 11th Gabala International Music Festival, held with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, supported by the Culture Ministry and Gilan Holding, successfully came to the end on August 5. Having turned into a nice tradition, this festival could this time draw the attention of the music world to Gabala, by its grandeur. Started on July 31, continuing for six days, this music holiday was joined by world-renowned conductors, eminent musicians, orchestras from Russia, Israel, USA, Italy, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, China and Turkey, as well as well-known musical bands from Azerbaijan.  

 

On the days of festival, music lovers and guests of Gabala gained a chance to listen to concerts of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeir Hajibeyli and the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra, concert programmes called “Cello Extravaganza” and “Oksana Yablonskaya and her friends” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of world-renowned pianist Oksana Yablonskaya, “Virtuosos of Kiev” Symphonic Orchestra and the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev, as well as performances of Azerbaijani young mugham singers accompanied by “Naz-naz” mugham group, “Clarte” clarinet quartet, and “Trio Miraculum” group from Turkey.

 

On August 5th, a closing ceremony of the 11th Gabala International Music Festival and a final concert took place in the Culture Centre. Representatives of the festival’s organising entities, district leadership, renowned musicians, music lovers and guests of the town attended the ceremony.

 

“Viva Opera” concert programme, accompanied by the symphonic orchestra “ Virtuosos of Kiev”, was presented to the audience at the closing ceremony.

 

At the concert conducted by Italian musician Alvise Casellati, works by Giuiseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, Pablo Sorocaba, S.Gunen, Eric Corngold and Giacomo Puccini were performed.

 

Performances by soloists Maria Buynosova (Russia), Modestas Sedlevichius (Lithuania) and Umid Israilov (Uzbekistan) were applauded by the audience.

 

At the end of the concert, all soloists performed together “Brindisi” from “Travita” opera by G.Verdi.
