Mugham TV Contest starts

The 9th Mugham TV Contest starts with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. 

 

To be organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture and the Azerbaijani Television, the contest’s selection phases are underway at the moment.  

 

During the selection phases, which will continue until April 30th, the Jury will select 20 young people and 10 juveniles from among the contenders from all the regions of the republic based on their applications filed to participate in the contest.

 

The Jury will be comprised of People’s artists Arif Babayev, Melekkhanum Eyyubova, Mansum Ibrahimov, Nazaket Teymurova, Sakina Ismayilova, Sardar Farajov, Vamig Mammadaliyev, and Honoured worker of culture Ilgar Fahmi. 

 

Youth and juveniles aged 8 to 30 will participate in the 9th Mugham Contest to be launched on May 13. Boys aged 14 to 17 shall not be allowed to the contest as in this period they undergo a voice change. Juveniles aged 8 to 16 and youth 16 to 30 will to compete at the contest. 

 

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, competition of first, juveniles and then, the youth will take place on the Azerbaijani Television and the Culture TV in the form of live broadcast, and winners will be determined on each category. 

 

The contest participants will present ghazals of classical and contemporary Azerbaijani poets by divisions of mugham, as well as perform popular songs, tesnifs, and zarb-mughams. 

 

At the end of August, the final concert of the 9th Mugham Contest and rewarding of the winners are expected to take place.
