Participants of the 3rd Nasimi – Poetry, Morality and Art Festival came together before the Bakuvi Mausoleum, at the Shirvanshahs Palace Complex – a grand example of the medieval Azerbaijani architecture‘s monumental decorative art.
The show “Mast-i Darvish”, staged on the basis of Nasimi’s ode “Mast” was presented before the historical monument of Icherisheher. The scriptwriter of the work is Ilgar Fahmi. Nasimi’s ghazals scattered over the old walls and streets of Icherisheher. These ghazals emphasized the human-God relations, human’s being a tiny little part of God, his position in life and society, human’s coming into this world by no accident, but with a special mission, which are characteristic of Nasimi’s creativity. Director of the show Bahruz Vagifoghlu told correspondents: “It would be more correct to call the work a ritual performance. It took us two weeks to stage the show. I would like to see more such events, as they spiritually enrich our people”.
Then, the project “Eshgh-i Noor” was presented. Developed under the mentorship of Honoured artist and curator Sabina Shykhlinskaya, with participation of contemporary Azerbaijani artists and curators, the project aimed at taking the Nasimi poetry and philosophy to new aesthetic levels through multiple means of expression of modern art.
The exhibition is a metaphysical travel built around love, light and sign, three notions reflecting most profound layers of human’s existence. The exhibition includes works of the fine arts, live expositions, and ideas shown on the monitor. The objective is to present love not only as an emotional and romantic condition, but, in contrary, as a moral challenge, divine attraction standing on the basis of existence.
One of the demonstrated projects was a presentation entitled “Uncovering the Word” by Lenay Seyidalizadeh. The presentation is about a person who carries the truth in his body. He is skinned, but his word remains.
Then, Nazrin Mammadova presented a synthesis of Nasimi’s ghazals with mugham and electronic music.
The Nasimi Festival’s closure will be finalised by a spiritual-irfani, musical-literary and artistic evening performed by Savalan Group at the Ateshgah Temple State History and Architecture Reserve .
