Oblastnaya Gazeta: Leyla Aliyeva – Goodwill ambassador

“Goodwill ambassador”. This is the title of the article posted on Oblastnaya Gazeta, the central publication in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Dedicated to the visit of Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Russia Office Leila Aliyeva to Yekaterinburg on December 2-3, 2010, the article says the friendly ties are strengthened by culture. It mentions Days of Friendship with the Republic of Azerbaijan were held in Sverdlovsk in early December.


The newspaper writes: “Goodwill ambassador Leila Aliyeva often pays a lot of visits within Russia, tries to bring together the youth from her home country, helps veterans, children deprived of parental care, talented people. Particularly concerned about the fate of the youth, Mrs Aliyeva does everything to assure their successful integration into the modern society in Russia. The Azerbaijan mission in Sverdlovsk Oblast is of the humanitarian and charity character basically, as Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by Mehriban Aliyeva, the spouse of the Azerbaijani President, sponsors cultural and medical institutions of different countries, regulates relations of workers in the field of art, unites Azerbaijani youth living in Russia.”

 

Authors of the article underlined that cultural contacts between Azerbaijan and Sverdlovsk Oblast are strong. They mentioned a charity concert by gifted Azerbaijani composer and singer Emin Aghalarov. Money raised from the concert went to Specialized Orphanage No6 in Yekaterinburg.

 

Journalists N.Podkorytova, L.Sabanina and I.Oshurkova highlighted Leila Aliyeva`s donating, on behalf of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, an ambulance to the Center of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology. During her visit to the Center, Leila Aliyeva said: “The most necessary is children”. The article quotes from the Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Russia Office: “Heydar Aliyev Foundation Russia Office has been operating for four years. It pays great attention to healthcare. In Azerbaijan the Foundation builds hospitals, helps diabetes-affected children, and donates vaccines against dangerous diseases on charity base. Therefore, it was important for us to visit the Clinic in Yekaterinburg. I was much impressed by the Center of Pediatric Oncology.”

 

It also talks on the meeting of Leila Aliyeva with Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast Alexander Misharin, which discussed prospects for strengthening humanitarian ties and projects, and laid the basis of the specific cooperation.

 

This visit by Head of Delegation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia Leila Aliyeva was broadly covered by Uralian mass media, ITAR-TASS, RIA-Novosti agencies, over 10 Internet resources.

 

Consul General of Azerbaijan in Sverdlovsk Oblast Sultan Gasymov said the Yekaterinburg visit of Leila Aliyeva, the Head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s RF Office, Chairwoman of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia, Editor-in-Chief of the “Baku” magazine, is of exceptional importance for strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Azerbaijan and Sverdlovsk Oblast. Yekaterinburg is the third big city in Russia and regulation of humanitarian cooperation is necessary for strengthening the friendly and neighboring relations between the two countries and nations. The Consul General said: “The meeting of Leila Aliyeva with Governor Alexander Misharin and agreements reached on implementation of various joint projects completely conform to the soul of the dynamically developing relations between the states of Russia and Azerbaijan.” According to him, Sverdlovsk residents highly appreciated the goodwill gesture by Mrs Leila Aliyeva – donation of an up-to-date ambulance to the Center of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology and a video projector to Yekaterinburg Museum of Ethnography, a charity concert by talented Azerbaijani composer and singer Emin Aghalarov, money from which went to the orphanage in Yekaterinburg. S.Gasymov said: “This is a huge contribution to the development of our relations in the fields of culture and healthcare.”
