An article devoted to the 870th jubilee of Nizami Ganjavi is placed on the official website of the Strasbourg City Council

An article devoted to the 870th jubilee of great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi is placed on the official website of the Strasbourg City Council.

 

It is informed, in the article, that the exhibition presented by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France, the Regional Department of the Alsace Region for Cultural Affairs, and the Strasbourg University’s Library, within the project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation “A Universal Bridge Linking the 12th and 21st Centuries”, will during three months be open to visitors: “Along with works by Nizami Ganjavi published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the French language, carpets with illustrations based on the motifs of poet’s poems, household items related to medieval  Shirvanshahlar and Atabeyler periods, coins, samples of ancient garments, pottery, silver items, as well as old views and contemporary photos of Ganja city, where the poet was born and lived, are displayed at the  exhibition.”

 

The article states that the exhibition had once been displayed in Rome, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Beijing and other cities, and that although more than eight centuries have passed since the poet’s time, his poems have kept their urgency to date. It is noted in the article that manuscripts of Nizami Ganjavi are cherished in a number of world libraries, including those of London, Istanbul, Washington, Iran, and the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.

 

It is underlined, in the article, that the Literature Museum of Azerbaijan was named after Nizami Ganjavi, a mausoleum was erected to the poet in the city of Ganja, a movie was made about the poet’s life and creativity, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a special decree in 2011 to mark the poet’s 870th anniversary, and that works by the poet were published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by Azerbaijan’s First Lady, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva, and displayed at the exhibition. It is also noted that the exhibition was of exclusive significance in terms of promoting Azerbaijan in France.
