“We all are from the country of our childhood”

A documentary called “We all are from the country of our childhood” about Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was broadcast on Russia’s “Russia 24” TV Channel.   


In the documentary, episodes from the movie “A talking letter”, in which Mehriban Aliyeva had acted, are shown, and it is noted that she had played the part of Valida, one of the main roles, in the movie.


Emphasizing that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by Mehriban Aliyeva, has provided support to hundreds of people, it is noted in the documentary that one of such families was little Imran’s family. It is said in the film that Imran, who had been severely injured as a result of an accident, has returned to normal life due to the Foundation’s support.


The documentary also talks about the years while Mehriban Aliyeva received higher education and worked as a physician.


The crew of the documentary emphasized Mehriban Aliyeva’s attaching special importance to the country’s development and architecture of Baku, and underscored that new cultural and art centres such as the Modern Art Museum have been created in Azerbaijan.


UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, member of the French Senate Nathalie Goulet talked about the works carried out by Mehriban Aliyeva towards promoting Azerbaijan abroad. Actress Ornella Muti mentioned Azerbaijan’s hosting “Eurovision-2012” Song Contest at the highest level in Baku 2 years ago, and said that Mehriban Aliyeva had headed the Organizing Committee of the Contest.


The documentary also provides information about the restoration of ancient temples in France, catacombs in Italy with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s support, Azerbaijan’s being the first Muslim country to participate in joint humanitarian projects being implemented in Italy, as well as the Foundation’s active participation in the restoration works at the Versailles Palace. It also talked about Mehriban Aliyeva’s activity as the head of the Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan and the development seen in this sports type in the country under her leadership.


People’s Artist of the USSR Tamara Sinyavskaya shared her recollections of Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the All-Russian Gymnastics Federation Irina Vinner talked about the achievements reached by Azerbaijani gymnastics under the First Lady’s leadership, and actor Robert Hussein talked about multilateral activities of Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.
