Preparations are underway for the next Kharybulbul Music Festival

The Kharybulbul 9th International Music Festival will be held on May 14 and 15, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in joint cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.

This year’s festival too is expected to be remembered by interesting programmes and presentations by talented persons of art from around the world.

One of the key objectives of the festival is to contribute to the advancement of cultural dialogue, promoting creative exchange between musicians. This is why representatives of art from USA, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Japan and other countries, along with Azerbaijan, were invited to the Kharybulbul International Music Festival, a rich cultural event.

The Festival will take the start on May 14 by a concert on the Jydyr Plain. The event will continue for two days, covering a number of sites in Shusha.

The Kharybulbul Music Festival, carrying the name of a flower - the symbol of Shusha, has been held since 1989. The Festival started in May of that year in the village of Abdal Gulably of Aghdam district on the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of renowned singer, pedagogue and People’s Artist Syid Shushinski, continuing in Shusha and finishing in Aghdam by a closing concert. And in 1990, the Kharybulbul festival gained an international status. During the Garabagh conflict, main concerts were organized in Aghdam. A number of concerts of the Festival were held in Barda and Aghjabedi.

After the deoccupation of our lands by our historic victory in the Patriotic War, the Festival returned to Shusha. Some of the Festival’s concerts took place in Lachyn.

Bringing together numerous musicians from around the world, this festivity of music and friendship has been contributing to the strengthening of intercultural dialogue, preserving rich traditions of our cultural heritage.
