The Museum of Modern Art was opened in Baku

On March 20, the Museum of Modern Art was opened in Baku. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony.

 

The ceremony also brought together Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura, Azerbaijan`s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

 

President Ilham Aliyev, Koichiro Matsuura and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva cut the red ribbon.

 

President Ilham Aliyev and Director-General of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura saw exposition of the Museum established at the initiative of UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva.

 

It includes more than 800 works of prominent Azerbaijani artists and sculptors such people’s artists of Azerbaijan Sattar Bahlulzade, Boyukaga Mirzazade, Elmira Shahtakhtinskaya, Tahir Salahov, Omar Eldarov, Nadir Abdurrahmanov.

 

Works presented to national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva are displayed at the Western Europe art hall.

 

The new cultural center, designed by famous artist Altay Sadygzade, will include child art hall, library, video hall, restaurant and art-cafe.

 

Then, ceremony was held to open the Museum. First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva opened the ceremony bringing together famous figures of culture.
