The projects ‘World of Uzeyir’ and ‘The Azerbaijani Mugham Encyclopedia’ presented at the Gulustan Palace

Heydar Aliyev Foundation presented projects ‘World of Uzeyir’ and ‘Azerbaijan Mugham Encyclopedia’ on September 17 at Gulustan Palace.


Dedicated to founder of the contemporary art of professional music and national opera in Azerbaijan Uzeyir Hajibeyli project ‘World of Uzeyir’ includes books ‘Chronicle of Life’, ‘Uzeyir Hajibeyli Encyclopedia’, ‘Literary and Publicistic Works’, claviers, librettos and CDs of operas and musical comedies ‘Leili and Mejnun’, ‘Koroghlu’, ‘Either This Or That’.  


Book ‘Chronicle of Life’ has been developed in base of book by Gulam Mammadli on life and activities of Uzeyir Hajibeyli. The first part of the publication covers a lot of facts about interesting life and multilateral activity of U.Hajibeyli, reflecting works by the composer in facts and documents taken from various newspapers, magazines, books and archives during 60 years and views on these works. The second part contains works by the genius composer and materials written about him, the whole bibliography of works published so far on study of Uzeyir.


Foreword to the book has been written by Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP.


Book ‘Literary and Publicistic Works’ is comprised of operas, musical comedies, satirical stories, sketches, felyetons and satirical articles by Uzeyir Hajibeyli.


Project ‘Azerbaijan Mugham Encyclopedia’ is the special publication dedicated to the Azerbaijan mugham. The 2-volume encyclopedia contains detailed information on mugham and presents Azeri mughams performed by different singers. The book includes nearly 1300 texts and over 200 images. Chairperson of the editorial board and chief editor of the book is Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva.


260 video and audio materials including mughams recorded for the first time in early the last century and performances by winners of 2007 TV Mugham Contest have been collected in 5 albums consisted of 125 CDs in MP3 format. Creativity of master and young singers, mugham destgahs and other works in CDs are for the first time presented in whole.


Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP who has initiated the projects, opened the ceremony.


Then, M.Aliyeva sincerely talked to figures of art of Azerbaijan and was photographed with them.


The presentation ceremony ended by performance of singers.
