Presentation of the film “Treasures of the World – Azerbaijan” takes place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre

On September 29, a new project promoting Azerbaijan’s old and rich history, and culture was presented to the public.

Premiere of the film “Treasures of the World – Azerbaijan”, a project jointly developed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and bp Company, took place at the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

President of Baku Media Centre Arzu Aliyeva attended the film’s premiere.

Presenting the history and magnificent cultural treasures of Baku, Shusha, Gobustan and Sheki, the film aims at worldwide promotion of Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage.

Regional president of bp for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gary Jones, and the film’s author, historian, writer, TV host, script writer and presenter of the series of documentaries under the title “World Treasures” professor Bettany Hughes addressed the presentation ceremony.

Then, the film was shown.

As the film continues, Bettany Hughes presents Azerbaijan’s magnificent nature and its culture with amazement: from the flames of gases coming from the interior of the earth to rock carvings dating back to tens of thousands of years. According to her, significance of the Silk Road included not only this country’s being a place of trade, but also where exchange of opinions took place. The unique cultural heritage of the Caucasus may be discovered here.

Watching the film, the audience welcomed the shots reflecting the beauty of Shusha. On the one hand, the author brings to attention the humanistic poetry of Khurshidbanu Natavan, on the other, she talks about the beauty of Vagif’s museum-mausoleum complex, the history of its construction, as well as his poetry. And the shots picturing the Jydyr Plain are accompanied by interesting information about the Karabakh horses, and the game of Chovkan.

Talking about Azerbaijan’s unique features with amazement, the author comes, at the end of the film, to conclusion that “Azerbaijan has no match in the world”.

The film has already been delivered to the world public in two pieces, called “Silk Road” and “Land of Fire”, on BBC TV Channel. The part called “Silk Road” was shot in Gobustan and Sheki, while shootings of “Land of Fire” covered Baku and Shusha.

The film has been developed enjoying the support of the Great Britain’s Sandstone Global Productions Company, with the support of Baku Media Centre.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation and bp have developed a 60-minute full version of the film in the Azerbaijani and English languages for the Azerbaijani audience. The film is expected to be shown on local TV channels.
