Presentation of the ballet “Nasimi Epos” takes place at the Nasimi Gardens Complex
On September 24, presentation of an artistic programme and the ballet “Nasimi Epos” took place at the Nasimi – Poetry, Morality and Art Festival, which continues at the Nasimi Gardens Complex in Shamakhy.
Speaking at the event, chairperson of the Writers Union of Azerbaijan, People’s Writer Anar said that Nasimi had played a special part in the development of the Azerbaijani literature and culture. He underscored that the poet’s creativity had greatly influenced both the enrichment of our language and the formation of our people’s moral values.
Director of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan, People’s Artist Yusif Eyvazov said that the Nasimi Festival was of special importance in terms of cultural live in Shamakhy. He underscored that the festival has been playing a significant part in preserving Nasimi’s legacy and presenting the poet’s creativity in different types of art.
Ballet dancer, director and producer of theatre Andris Liepa noted that the ballet “Nasimi Epos” was specially produced in order to convey the moral and aesthetic values of Nasimi’s creativity to the audience. He also underscored that the choreographic and music solutions in the new production of the ballet enables to express the poet’s ideas in the language of the modern art.
On the stage, the State Music and Dance Ensemble, under the artistic leadership of Rufat Khalilzadeh, presented the dance “Sufi”.
Then, Honoured Artist Sevda Alakbarzade said “Merhaba, khosh geldin”.
Famous singer Chingiz Mustafayev performed “Gafil, oyan”.
People’s artists Alim Gasymov, Natig Shirinov and “Natig” Rhythm Group, well-known singer AISEL, Honoured Artist Elnur Mikayilov(kamancha), the Symphonic Orchestra of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan and the State Choir of Azerbaijan performed “Donmezem”.
One of the presentations waited for impatiently at the festival was demonstration of the ballet “Nasimi Epos” in a new production.
The new staging of the unfading work of composer of genius Fikret Amirov in a new production was performed by the direction of renowned ballet dancer, director and producer of the theatre Andris Liepa. The ballet was performed by a ballet troupe accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan. The ballet’s directing choreographer is Patrick De Bana, who has worked with different troupes in various countries.
Dedicated to Nasimi, Fikret Amirov’s “Nasimi Epos” was composed in 1973. The author of the libretto is writer Anar. The ballet was first shown on September 23, 1973. This work won great sympathy of spectators, and some time after the premiere, in 1974, it was honoured with the State Prize of the Republic.
Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, with ISESCO’s partnership, the Nasimi – Poetry, Morality and Art Festival is dedicated to the creativity of Imadeddin Nasimi (1369-1417), one of the Orient’s poets and thinkers of genius, aiming at immortalising poetry and art. Poems of the great poet are not only examples of grand mastery of word, they have preserved their urgency to date with their power of meaning.
