Book ‘Adjutant General to His Majesty. Epos on Huseyn Khan Nakhchyvansky’ by Rudolf Ivanov, popular Russian scholar, writer-historian, professor, has been published by Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The book is dedicated to life and warrior heroism of our outstanding countryman who has been awarded the 20 prizes of Russia and 9 foreign orders, commanded the biggest and popular regiments of Russian army.

The book is opened with foreword by author Rudolf Ivanov. According to him, during his 34-year military action Huseyn Khan Nakhchyvansky was promoted from cornet to general’s cavalier and granted the highest military title – Adjutant General to His Majesty. He served for 20 years in the cavalry regiment, led the 2nd Dagestan cavalry regiment in the Russia-Japan war and the legendary 44th Nijegorodskiy regiment after the war. WWI discovered a commander’s talent of Huseyn Khan who was a successful commander always fighting in the battle-front.

The author writes servicemen subordinate to Huseyn Khan Nakhchyvansky much loved him and decently executed his orders as he was polite, serious and kind to them. Historical personalities of the future such as P.N.Vrangel, A.I.Denikin, A.M.Kaledin, who will lead the white movement, Ukrainian hetman P.P.Skoropadskiy, field marshal and President of Finland K.K.Mannergeym were trained under leadership of Huseyn Khan.

According to R.Ivanov, Huseyn Khan Nakhchyvansky was victim of ‘red terror’. He was arrested in Petrograd upon the order of Chairman of the Emergency Commission M.S.Uritsky and remained in the Petrograd City Jail for a while. But there is no information on him after September 1918. Searches carried out in the Federal Security Service archives had no result. The author writes Azerbaijani historians claim that the general was shot in early 1919. But FSS documents deny it. It is possible that corresponding documents were not preserved in the archives or not consulted.

Rudolf Ivanov mentions while writing with great honor about life and heroism of this extraordinary commander he did not expect to meet with a sorrowful fact that the fate of Adjutant General to His Majesty Huseyn Khan Nakhchyvansky is unknown. But demonstrating optimism the author notes the active, selfless and heroic activities and honest morality of Huseyn Khan Nakhchyvansky do not give the right to any society, including ours to be indifferent to the uncertainty of fate of this important and outstanding figure of the Russian Empire.

Based on unique archive documents the book is of great significance for military-patriotic training of Azeri youth.
