The Heydar Aliyev
Foundation continuously organizes trips for children from various countries of
the world to Azerbaijan in order to acquaint them with Azerbaijan, its history
and rich culture. Within the framework of this project, an essay competition
about Azerbaijan was held among American schoolchildren in joint cooperation
between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United
States of America and the World Affairs Councils of America. Held among three thousand schoolchildren, the contest started on
December 1, 2011 and ended on March 1, 2012. 10 schoolchildren that were announced
winners of the contest and accompanying them persons visited Azerbaijan during June
20 - 28 June, 2012. All cost of the delegation during the trip were covered by
the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The World Affairs Councils of America is comprised of about 100 representative offices based on 40 states, and some 500,000 people take part each year in global projects being implemented by the Council.
