A friendly match between Azerbaijani and French wrestlers in Paris. Olympic test match

On December 4, 2014, “France-Azerbaijan Friendly Match on Wrestling. Olympic Test Match”was arrangedin the Winter Circus of Pariswithin the framework of the events devoted to the presentation of “Baku-2015”first European Games.

At the opening ceremony, the State Dance Ensemble of Azerbaijan performed, and a documentary talking about the sports achievements of Azerbaijan and the preparation works carried out in connection with the upcoming first European Games was shown.

At the match watched by some 1600 onlookers, competitions were held on 10 weight categories for free-style and women wrestling types. The Azerbaijani team won its competitor with the score 9 to 1. 

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, Chairperson of the first European Games Organizing Committee, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, Foundation’s Vice-president Leyla Aliyeva, French State Secretary for Sports Thierry Brayard, President of the International Wrestling Federation Nenad Lalovich, members of the French government and parliament, as well as representatives of the sports society were among the onlookers.

After the match came to an end, a dinner-party was organized on the occasion of the friendly match. A documentary about the development of sports, wrestling in particular, in Azerbaijan was shown at the ceremony. Azerbaijani masters of art performed with a concert programme at the ceremony.
